NHS Grampian have confirmed that despite rumours the current deal with Hospedia would end this month, there is still another seven years to run on the contract.

MSP Gillian Martin says she has had various complaints from constituents regarding the price they've had to pay to watch TV while staying at ARI.

In a letter to Martin, NHS Grampian bosses confirmed they had asked the provider about the possibility of ending the agreement early, and were told it would come at a heavy cost - although they did not rule out discussing paying the early cancellation fee.

Martin said:

"It's really disappointing that NHS Grampian have entered into a contract like this, which I would say penalises the most vulnerable of patients."

"I'm not sure why they elected to have such a lengthy contract that they couldn't get out of."

"I've had nothing but complaints from people about the cost of television in hospital, particularly from those concerned about their elderly relatives."
