New NHS Grampian boss named

NHS Grampian has a new Chief Executive.

Malcom Wright's no stranger to the job - he's been the interim chief exec for the past six months.

He was put in charge following the early retirement of Richard Carey, who stepped down after a number of concerns were raised over staffing.

NHS Grampian Chairman Professor Stephen Logan announced today at a meeting of NHS Grampian’s Board:

“We have now reached the conclusion of the comprehensive recruitment process for a new Chief Executive for NHS Grampian and I am delighted to be able to inform you that Malcolm Wright has been offered and has accepted the substantive post of Chief Executive.

“Malcolm has become well known to us in the six months he has spent in Grampian as our Interim Chief Executive and has also become a familiar face across the organisation and with our partners. He has demonstrated strong charismatic leadership, a clear focus for the organisation and a genuine desire to be visible, to meet staff and to engage openly and fully in every aspect of our work. His tremendous capacity for hard work and his personal drive, energy and enthusiasm have been instrumental in embedding our values of caring, listening and improving and in moving forward day to day business at the same time as planning for the future.

“We should never be complacent. We face real challenges every day and we will continue to do so. But we will continue to deliver safe, effective, person centred care with good clinical outcomes and positive patient experience and Malcolm will maintain that focus and build and develop the organisation going forwards.

“I know you will join me in congratulating Malcolm and welcoming him into his permanent role.”
