New images have been released of what the inside of the new AECC may look like once completed.

They show the proposed arena and club lounge.

The decision on the future of the proposed ÂŁ333 million exhibition centre is due to be made at the end of this year, so building can start in 2016.

Nick Harris, Henry Boot’s Scottish Director said: “When it opens, the new AECC is expected to make a significant contribution to the Scottish economy.

"It will allow Aberdeen to compete on an international scale and attract major artists to the city. It will elevate Aberdeen into the top five of global competitor energy cities for conferences and exhibitions and it will improve the range of cultural and entertainment events that can take place in Aberdeen, thereby strengthening the business and leisure appeal of the city.

"The plans for the new AECC and surrounding site are hugely exciting and I am delighted that our proposals to deliver this new facility are moving forward.”
