New Homeless Centre Opens In Aberdeen

A brand new homeless centre and support facilities have opened up in Aberdeen.

Aberdeen City Council joined forces with Keir Construction to create the development at the former Victoria House on North West Street.

The new homelessness unit comprises a three-storey block for short-term supported accommodation for homeless people, with 20 bedsits with en-suite shower facilities.

Communal facilities are provided on the ground floor, comprising kitchen, laundry, lounge and staff accommodation.

A separate six-storey block provides 20 flats, ranging from one to four bedrooms, for independent living for homeless people in a secure environment.

Our reporter Phil McDonald met 21-year-old Kurt Fraser, who was one of the first to move into the new centre.
