New child and adolescent mental health service building opens in Aberdeen
One million pound government funded refurbishment of Links Unit at City hospital will provide a more streamlined service, 'all under one roof'.
Jeane Freeman, Cabinet Secretary for Health & Sport today opened the NHS Grampian dedicated facility for youngster's mental health in Aberdeen City and Shire.
Previously, many of the the city's mental health services for CAMHS (Child & Adolescent Mental Health Service) had been spread across multiple units in the city.
The new unit offers various tools including art therapy and a kitchen to teach essential skills to patients.
The health and sport secretary Ms Freeman said:
"It's been great to meet with some children and young people who this fantastic new CAMHS unit will support."
"Facilities such as this one are the future for CAMHS. It has been purpose designed for children and young people with mental health issues and there are a number of services available under the one roof."
