Nearly 40kg of cannabis seized in North East in June and July
Police in the North East have revealed nearly 300 people were reported in connection with drugs offences in the last two months.
That's alongside the recovery of 37kg of cannabis and 1.3kg of cocaine - as the war against drugs here continues.
In June and July, officers across Aberdeen City and Shire made a number of raids - with huge quantities of illicit substances recovered.
£250,000 worth of cannabis was found in just one property in Langstane Place.
That haul, among others, is included in the near-40 kilos seized - and officers are also telling us they now have nearly one and a half kilos of cocaine, destined for our streets.
More than 45 thousand pounds in suspected dirty money has also been taken out of the hands of suspected dealers - all in a period of just 8 weeks.
Detective Chief Inspector Lorna Ferguson said: “These latest figures are testament to the constant proactive work that is taking place every day by specialist officers in North East Division to make our communities even safer places to live. It is also testament to the valuable information we receive from the public which in many cases enables us to take quick and positive action. Some of the seizures made over the past couple of months would not have taken place were it not for concerns raised to Police and I would like to thank those who assisted."
She added: "It’s only by knowing where suspicious activity is happening and building on that intelligence that we can target our resources to the right places. It's the public who can help us break the chain between drug use and crime so if you’re concerned about dealing in your area, no matter how insignificant you think your information is, we want to know.
