A young mother who died in a crash while driving with her baby daughter in the car has been named by police.
Hannah Davies, 23, was involved in a one-vehicle collision on the A92 Inverbervie to Kinneff road in Aberdeenshire at around 10.50am on Saturday.
She suffered fatal injuries in the crash.
Her 13-month-old daughter suffered minor injuries and was taken to Royal Aberdeen Children's Hospital for treatment.
She has since been released into the care of her family and is said to be safe and well.
In a statement issued through police the family of Ms Davies, who was from Inverbervie, thanked everyone who tried to help.
They said: We would like to thank the folk who stopped to try and help our daughter as well as the emergency services and the hospital.''
Police appealed for information about the crash which happened around one mile south of Kinneff and involved a black Nissan Note.
Sergeant Malcolm Kinross, of the Road Policing Unit, North East Division, said: First of all, I would say that all our thoughts are with the friends and family of Hannah at this utterly devastating time. I would like to thank everyone who assisted at the scene.
Our investigation is still at an early stage and I am appealing for anyone who was aware of a black Nissan Note at around 10.50am on February 18 2017 on the A92 Inverbervie to Kinneff road, to contact the Police on 101.''
The road was closed to allow collision investigations to take place and was later re-opened.
