A body has been found in a town where a teenage girl has been missing for three days.
Friends and family of 15-year-old Paige Doherty from Clydebank, West Dunbartonshire, launched an appeal after she failed to arrive at her part-time job on Saturday.
She was last seen at around 8.15am when the teenager is thought to have been headed to a bus stop to travel to the hairdressers where she worked in Kirkintilloch, around 12 miles away.
At 12.45pm on Monday police were called after a body was discovered in a wooded area behind a path off Great Western Road, Clydebank.
The body has not yet been formally identified, Police Scotland said.
A statement said: A post-mortem is due to take place to establish the exact cause of death but at this time police are treating the death as unexplained.
Inquiries are continuing.''
Missing posters have been put up around the town and a dedicated Facebook page has been set up to help find the 15-year-old.
On Saturday morning she left a friend's house in Angus Street in the Whitecrook area of Clydebank and walked her usual route through Wood Quadrant and went to Delicious Deli on Fleming Avenue.
A missing poster states: After this she should have took the bus to Kirkintilloch for work but did not show and has not been seen since.
Her family are growing increasingly worried.''
Paige is 4ft 8ins and slim, with long dark hair. She was wearing a dark jacket, jeans and white Nike trainers when she went missing.
