McInnes speculation not an issue for Aberdeen players, says Greg Stewart

The midfielder says manager Derek McInnes has not had to address Rangers speculation with his squad

McInnes is favourite to take over at Ibrox but there has been no contact from Rangers a week after Pedro Caixinha was sacked as the Govan club weigh up their options.

With the international break approaching, Rangers could continue to take their time as director of football Mark Allen draws up a shortlist.

But their protracted recruitment process is not bothering Stewart despite ongoing debate about whether Rangers will approach Aberdeen and whether McInnes would or should take up any offer.

Speaking ahead of Saturday's trip to Hamilton, Stewart said: He has not said a thing about it, we just get on with our jobs.

It's just speculation. When you are doing well you are going to get linked with several big clubs. When you are doing well you get recognised.

It's not really fazed any of us, we just come in every day and get on with our jobs, focus on the game and work hard in training.

You never know what's going to happen in football. So we just come in every day and get on with our jobs.

I'm sure he thinks the same, makes sure everyone works hard and when it comes to Saturday we are focused on the game and nothing else.''

The Dons bounced back quickly from their 3-0 home defeat by Celtic with victory over Ross County last Saturday moving them back to within a point of the Ladbrokes Premiership leaders.

But they face a tricky task on Saturday on the artificial surface of the SuperSeal Stadium, where they lost twice last season. The Dons have only won once in six league games there, although they triumphed in a tight Betfred Cup encounter in August.

Stewart said: It's always a hard place to go. You always get people moaning about the pitch as well. Personally I am not a fan of the pitch but we still need to go there and do a job and no excuses after. Whatever happens, there is no excuses.'
