McInnes praises players as Aberdeen chase second place
Aberdeen manager Derek McInnes reckons his team have been under-appreciated this season.
But he aims to secure them the credit he feels they deserve by claiming a fourth consecutive runners-up spot in the Ladbrokes Premiership.
The Dons are in pole position ahead of home games against Hibernian and Rangers with a three-point lead over both of their nearest rivals.
Two cup defeats against Motherwell prevented Aberdeen from hitting the heights of last season, when they came second to Celtic in three competitions.
But McInnes is happy with the way his side have approached the run-in after winning five of their last six.
“Our last two performances have been indicative of how motivated the players are to do well,” McInnes said ahead of Saturday's clash with Hibs.
“The players deserve a lot of credit. We're up there again, we're sitting in second spot.
“You hear people comment that it's been an underwhelming season for Aberdeen.
“A lot gets said about other teams round about us but we don't seem to be getting that same recognition as a team.
“So hopefully by winning on Saturday, if we can, then people maybe recognise, even come the end of the season, that there's been good work done by Aberdeen again this year."
