Marischal Square Campaigners "Mourn" The Site

Published 14th Mar 2015

Campaigners against the controversial Marischal Square development have lain flowers and messages to "mourn" the site.

A number of flowers and messages have been left so far, with some reading "RIP Democracy".

It's been a lengthy debate which has gripped the city for months, and our Northsound survey found that 75% of our listeners were against the project.

The group have staged numerous protests over the last few months, with thousands turning out to speak out against the £107 million project.

A petition against the project has also gained over eight thousand signatures.

The group were even invited to a special council meeting last week, where they were given the oppurtunity to fight their case in front of full council.

But in the end councillors chose to vote 22-21 for the development to go ahead.

Development has already started, with developers being spotted on the site this week.
