A man who travelled to Scotland's oil capital from London carrying more than £110,000 of crack cocaine in a ruck sack was rumbled after he ran from cops, a court has heard.

Jamie Lewis,31, jogged away from police officers who wanted to speak to him in connection with another matter, the High Court in Edinburgh heard.

Officers smelled cannabis from Lewis moments as he tried to outrun them in Aberdeen's Oldmill Road on April 24 2017.

The hood, who has previous convictions for supplying drugs, was caught nearby and officers placed him under arrest.

The detective constables examined his ruck sack and found he was carrying drugs which had a maximum street value of £110,400.

The story emerged after Lewis, originally of London but currently on remand at HMP Grampian, pleaded guilty on Thursday to being involved in the supply of drugs.

Prosecution lawyer Stephen Borthwick told the court that Lewis refused to co-operate with the police when he was arrested.

He added: "During the course of his interview, the accused answered no comment to all questions put to him."

Judge Lord Armstrong deferred sentence on Lewis and ordered a report into his character be presented to the court.

He will be sentenced at the High Court in Glasgow on August 17 2017
