A man has died after an accident between a car and an articulated lorry on the B979 near Westhill

A man has died after an accident between a car and an articulated lorry on the B979 near Westhill at around 8.30am this morning.

The accident happened between the B9119 Cairnie road and A944 route to Elrick and local diversions are in place.

The man was behind the wheel of the car - the other driver isn't believed to have been hurt.

Officers are currently at the scene and the road is expected to be closed for several hours while investigations take place.

Anyone who was in the area around the time in question and may have information that could assist are asked to please contact the police.

In a seperate incident a man was taken to Aberdeen Royal Infirmary for a check up after his car was involved in a crash with an oil tanker on the B9000, near the junction with the A90 at Tipperty.
