Man hospitalised after serious assault in Aberdeen

Police officers were called to reports of a serious assault in the Menzies Road area of Aberdeen this morning at around 2am.

Police officers were called to reports of a serious assault in the Menzies Road area of Aberdeen this morning at around 2am.

A 24-year-old man was taken to Aberdeen Royal Infirmary to be treated for serious injuries which are not believed to be life-threatening.

Menzies Road was cordoned off while enquiries were carried out however has since been re-opened.

One male has been taken into custody and enquiries are ongoing.

PC Kevin Souter, from the Aberdeen Divisional Alcohol and Violence Unit, said: "We would like to thank the local community for their patience while this incident was dealt with. I would also like to take this opportunity to stress that this was a contained and isolated incident, and that at no point was there any threat posed to any other members of the public.
