Man hit by car being chased by Police in Aberdeen

The 48-year-old was seriously injured after he was hit by a car that refused to stop for Police.

Police Officers are appealing for witnesses following a pursuit and subsequent serious road crash on Great Northern Road, Aberdeen.

Around 2pm on Monday, 16 August, 2021, a Black Seat Leon Cupra failed to stop for police in the Northfield area of Aberdeen near the junction with Moir Drive.

Police gave chase before the car hit a pedestrian on Great Northern Road a short time later.

A 48-year-old man, was taken to Aberdeen Royal Infirmary with serious injuries. The road was closed for approximately 9 hours to allow collision investigation work to be carried out.

The Black Seat Leon Cupra was found abandoned a short time later in St Machar Place, Aberdeen, and enquiries are ongoing to trace the driver and a passenger.

Detective Inspector Jamie Sherlock said: “Our enquiries into this incident are ongoing and we urge anyone who may have seen what happened to get in touch. In particular, we ask anyone with dash-cam footage of the Seat, before and after the crash, to contact officers.

As is standard procedure, the matter has been referred to the Police Investigations & Review Commissioner (PIRC) with respect to any prior police involvement.
