Man due in court in connection with taxi break-ins

The 40 year old will appear at Aberdeen Sheriff Court after the alleged thefts

A 40-year-old local man is expected to appear at Aberdeen Sheriff Court this afternoon (February 14, 2017) charged in connection with an alleged series of break-ins to taxis across Aberdeen.

Reports were received of vehicles being targeted in the Holburn, Kincorth, Craigiebuckler, Pittodrie, Bridge of Don, Garthdee and Torry areas of the city since December 2016.

PC Emma Strachan said: "I would like to thank members of the public for their assistance during our inquiries."

She added: "Tackling acquisitive crime is a priority for North East Division under Operation Magpie, and I would urge the public to continue to assist us by ensuring their homes, sheds, garages and vehicles are locked and secure at all times.

"I would also encourage anyone with information or concerns about acquisitive crime in their area to contact Police on 101 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555111 if you would prefer to remain anonymous."
