Pensioner dies following crash at Kirkton of Skene

A pensioner has died following a single-car crash on an Aberdeenshire road on Tuesday evening.

The incident happened at around 7pm involving a silver Volkswagen Polo.

Emergency services attended the scene on Old Skene Road at Kirkton of Skene.

The driver, an 84-year-old man, was taken to Aberdeen Royal Infirmary where he later died.

Road policing officers are urging anyone who witnessed what happened or has dash-cam footage to get in touch.

Sergeant Peter Henderson said: “Our thoughts are with the family of the man who has died and our enquiries are ongoing to establish the full circumstances.

“We are appealing to anyone who saw what happened to come forward. In addition, if you have dash-cam footage that could help with our investigation then please get in touch.”
