Man dies and woman seriously injured following A93 crash

A man has died and a woman is seriously injured in hospital following a one-vehicle crash on an Aberdeenshire road.

Emergency services were called to reports of a car having left the road on the A93 near Dinnet at around 4.40pm on Wednesday 7 August.

The 66-year-old male driver of the Audi A5 was pronounced dead at the scene.

The passenger, a 62-year-old woman, was taken to Aberdeen Royal Infirmary where staff have described her condition as serious but stable.

Officers have thanked the members of the public who helped at the scene of the crash and are asking any witnesses to contact the non-emergency line.

Sergeant Eoin Maxwell from the North East Road Policing Unit said: “Our thoughts are with the family and friends of the man who died.”

“We would like to thank the members of the public who assisted at the scene of the crash.

“I would appeal to anyone who witnessed the crash take place, who has not yet spoken to police, to contact us.”
