A man is dead after an apparent fall at Cruden Bay earlier today.

He was found at the foot of cliffs at Slains Castle this afternoon.

Rescuers from Peterhead's RNLI Lifeboat helped the police, and a spokesperson for the charity offered "sincere condolences, to the friends and family of the casualty."

In a statement, Police Scotland said 'The death is being treated as unexplained but there are no apparent suspicious circumstances.

'As with all sudden deaths a report will be submitted to the Procurator Fiscal.'
