Man in critical condition after being struck by car in Aberdeen

A 68-year-old man has been seriously injured after being struck by a car on an Aberdeen road yesterday.

It happened at around 7.20pm on Seafield Road and involved a Volkswagen Golf.

The man was taken to Aberdeen Royal Infirmary where his condition has been described as critical.

The occupants of the car were not injured.

The road was closed for a number of hours but has since reopened.

Officers are now appealing for anyone who may have witnessed the incident to get in touch.

Constable Geoff Smart, North East Roads Policing Unit, said: "Our enquiries into the cause of the crash are continuing.

"Officers are appealing to anyone who witnessed the incident and have not yet spoken to police to get in touch. Seafield Road is a main thoroughfare and there would have been a number of people in the area at the time."
