Man charged with attempted murder after car hits electric motorbike in Aberdeen

28-year-old Sinem Aktas made no plea at Aberdeen Sheriff Court. A 22-year-old man remains in a critical condition in hospital after the incident

A man has appeared in court charged with attempted murder, after a crash in Aberdeen which has left a 22-year-old man fighting for life in hospital.

At around 9pm on Saturday police were called to reports of a collision between a car and an electric motorcycle on Cattofield Place in the Hilton area of the city.

The 22-year-old man who was riding the motorcycle was taken to Aberdeen Royal Infirmary, where staff describe his condition as critical but stable.

Police said a 28-year-old man had been arrested and charged in connection.

Today Sinem Aktas appeared at Aberdeen Sheriff Court, where he made no plea to a charge of assault to severe injury, permanent disfigurement, impairment, danger to life and attempted murder, and to another charge under the Road Traffic Act.

He was granted bail and will appear again at a later date.

Police say enquiries into the incident remain ongoing.
