Man charged after alleged "Joker" attack

A 24 year old man's been charged over reports of a fancy dress attack in Aberdeen at Hallowe'en.

Officers received a report of a 20-year-old man sustaining serious injuries during an incident involving a person dressed as 'The Joker' at Langstane Place on Saturday October 28, 2017.

A man from Aberdeen was subsequently detained and charged today Wednesday 29th November, and is expected to appear at Aberdeen Sherriff Court tomorrow, Thursday 30th November, in connection with the incident.

PC Eamonn Ryan, of the Divisional Alcohol Violence Reduction Unit (DAVRU) - which led the investigation - said: "Our initial appeal generated significant interest and I would like to thank those who assisted and got in touch with information."

He added: "Violence in any form will never be tolerated and tackling violent behaviour and the devastating consequences it can have is a priority for North East Division. We work closely with our partners and licensed premises to prevent incidents from occurring in the first instance, and to bring offenders to court if the worst should happen.
