CID Proactive officers executed a drugs search warrant in the Summerfield Place area of the city yesterday afternoon, Wednesday 15th November.

'Crack' cocaine and heroin worth a combined six-figure sum was recovered and a 51-year-old man from Aberdeen was later traced and detained and subsequently charged in connection.

He is expected to appear at Aberdeen Sheriff Court today, Thursday 16th November.

Detective Inspector Allen Shaw said: "This is a significant seizure of controlled drugs that would have been bound for the streets of the North East, and in particular the most vulnerable people who live in them.

"I cannot stress enough the devastating effects illegal substances can have on our communities which is why targeted proactive action is carried out on a daily basis.

"Drugs worth almost £2.5million were seized in Aberdeen in just one year thanks to this action, with 252 drugs search warrants executed - an average of 21 per month.
