Man badly hurt in Aberdeen street attack

The police are investigating an assault in the Hill Street area of Aberdeen yesterday evening at around 7.30pm.

A 29-year-old male sustained serious facial injuries and was taken to Aberdeen Royal Infirmary for treatment. His injuries are not life threatening.

Hill Street and two nearby streets were cordoned off for several hours to let officers investigate.

Sergeant Mike Stobie, from the Divisional Alcohol Violence Reduction Unit, said: "This was a contained, isolated incident which posed no threat to the wider public.

"Enquiries are ongoing and officers investigating are following several positive lines of enquiry.

"Anyone who was in the area at the time and who does have information about the incident should contact Police on 101 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555111 to remain anonymous."
