Man Admits Stealing Bus And Driving It Through Aberdeen City Centre While On Drugs

A man has today admitted to stealing and driving a bus through Aberdeen city centre, leading police on a chase.

26-year-old Hans Reid stole a Stagecoach vehicle from the Bus Station on May 16th.

He then sped through city streets, driving through red lights, driving in the middle of the road, and crashing into parked cars.

The Sheriff ruled that Reid drove in a manner which put the lives of other drivers in danger after he stole the vehicle on the Sunday night.

Reid admitted a string of driving charges, including the theft of the bus from the Guild Street depot, when he appeared at the city court today.

He pled guilty to driving the vehicle while unfit to be behind the wheel through drink or drugs and with no insurance.

Reid also admitted driving with no licence for that type of vehicle and assaulting a police officer after he was arrested.

The sheriff deferred sentence for background reports and the consideration of a supervised release order.

Reid was remanded in custody until he is sentenced later this year.
