Police have launched an investigation after a suspicious death at a flat in Aberdeen

Officers were called to an address in Arnage Place, Mastrick, at around 5am on Wednesday following concerns for a man aged in his 20s.

The Scottish Ambulance Service also attended but the man was pronounced dead at the scene.

The death is being treated as suspicious.

Police said a major investigation is under way and officers are following a positive line of inquiry.

They have also been searching a property on nearby Willowbank Place.

Detective Inspector Gary Winter said: There's no doubt that this incident will cause concern within the community, however I would like to stress that we are treating this as an isolated and contained matter and that at no point did there appear to be any threat to other members of the public.

I would also like to thank the public for their patience while this incident is being dealt with. There will be a visible police presence in the area as we continue with our inquiries and I would again ask for the public's patience.''

Police are trying to trace the man's next of kin to confirm his identity.
