Kojak actor Telly Savalas Looks At Aberdeen in this forgotten about tourism video from the 1980s
Back in the 1980s Kojak star Telly Savalas was recruited by city council bosses to promote Aberdeen in a tourism video to be sent out to show off the granite city as the oil capital of Europe.
In an interview with the BBC in 2007, retired Aberdeen council planner John Souter revealed that the Kojak star never actually visited Aberdeen but recorded the voiceover for the video in a studio in London. It was made to meet a quota of domestic films that would have been included in cinema pre-roll adverts at the time.
