A young Aberdeenshire woman's telling Northsound News about her boyfriend's 18 month battle to recover from a horrific car crash.

Luke Wood, 21, from Alford suffered a serious brain injury in a head-on car crash.

He's been left badly paralysed, spending months in intensive care.

Luke is making progress - he still has difficulty communicating, but he's started to move his hands and feet.

He's now back home with his family, who're trying to raise money for a special exercise bike to keep him physically active.

Friends and family managed to raise thousands of pounds towards a new 4x4 wheelchair which has helped the 21-year-old to get outside.

His girlfriend Amber Johnston says it's been tough, but they're proud of how far Luke has come and just how big a difference the new piece of kit would make to his life.
