The controversial Marischal Square development will be the topic of debate at Holyrood this evening.

Aberdeen Central MSP Kevin Stewart secured the member's debate on the ÂŁ107m project.

The discussion will allow campaign group 'Reject Marischal Square' to voice their opinions to the Scottish parliament.

They are worried that tax payers will suffer if the complex remains largely unoccupied due to the downturn of the oil and gas industry in the North East. They also oppose how the building will look - and believe it will block the view of the historic Marischal College, once complete.

The development will create new retail, office, and hotel space on the former site of Aberdeen City Council headquarters.

It is due to be complete by early 2017.
