Northsound News have been finding out about the levels of food poverty in Aberdeen - which according to a local foodbank is "worsening".

The Scottish government have announced a ÂŁ1million funding boost to help tackle the problem.

Scotland's Social Justice Secretary Alex Neil said: "We are doubling our funding to tackle food poverty because it is unacceptable that anyone should be embarrassed or struggling in silence to feed themselves and their families in a country as prosperous as Scotland.

"This ÂŁ1million investment will be directed at projects that aim to address the deep rooted causes of food poverty and not just the symptoms."

We spoke to Community Food Initiative North East's Dave Simmers about the number of people coming to them for food parcels.
