LISTEN: Daughter makes emotional plea to help find Dad missing in the Cairngorms
A search is continuing for a hillwalker missing in the Cairngorms after he failed to return home on Friday.
A search is continuing for a hillwalker missing in the Cairngorms after he failed to return home on Friday.
Experienced walker James Robertson, 61, left Glasgow last Monday and had been staying at Bob Scott's Bothy in Glen Lui, Aberdeenshire.
Mountain rescue teams, search and rescue dogs and a coastguard helicopter were involved in the hunt for Mr Robertson at the weekend.
His daughter Lynn Strachan said her family is distraught and desperate'' for news:
She has appealed to other walkers for help to trace him through the Facebook page of Braemar Mountain Rescue.
Ms Strachan said: Our only hopes of finding him rely on people who have been/are in the Cairngorms area to come forward with any information.
The area is so vast and we have no information about what mountain he could be on. We need someone who has seen my dad to help Braemar and Aberdeen mountain rescue teams to narrow their search.
We are desperate for my dad to be found.''
Mr Robertson is around 5ft 10in and of medium build with short grey hair. He wears glasses and may be carrying a large rucksack.
A Police Scotland spokesman said: Mr Robertson's family is understandably concerned for him and just want to know he is safe and well.
Air and foot searches have been carried out and will continue to be carried out in an effort to locate Mr Robertson.''
Braemar Mountain Rescue team said: If anyone has been out walking in the southern Cairngorms, particularly hills accessible from the bothy, and think they may have met or seen this lone walker please get in touch with us.''
