UNITE are accusing Aberdeen City Council of being sexist towards female city wardens.

The Union say women are being provided with soft hats to wear, while their male colleagues are allowed to wear official 'hard hat' headgear.

UNITE say they discovered the practice after talking to female union members - and have now called for the practice to be stopped immediately and for an apology to be issued.

In response, the local authority say it's because of problems with the new made-to-measure hats they've ordered - the women's version is uncomfortable, so staff have been given the option to wear the soft cap while alternatives are considered.

Our reporter Hope Webb spoke to Regional Organisor for UNITE, Tommy Campbell.
