LISTEN: Banchory Man Recognised For Bravery After Saving Man From Burning Car

Published 7th Oct 2015

We've been hearing the story of a man from Banchory, who was honoured for his bravery, at an awards ceremony last night.

Matthew Robertson, from Banchory, was given an honour at the Scottish Government's 'Brave @ Heart Awards' in Edinburgh.

It comes after he saved a man from a burning car, after a serious crash on South Deeside earlier this year.

He ran to the car, dragged the man out, before it exploded seconds later.

He is joined by another North East man, Gavin Sutherland from Peterhead, who was recognised for attempting to save a man who drove his car into Peterhead Harbour.

Our reporter Hope Webb got the chance to speak to Matthew Robertson, about his bravery and his reaction to the award.
