Listen: Aberdeen man opens up on homelessness as city battles street begging crisis
Out on the streets of Aberdeen - we're hearing first hand what it's like to spend your days begging on the streets.
A new report's found that half of those asking are in permanent accommodation, but most are battling other demons like addiction and mental health issues.
Work carried out by Aberdeen Cyrenians found that 81% of people asked felt that there is an issue with street begging in Aberdeen.
Of those asked, 57% felt compassion with 9% expressing anger about the situation.
Former soldier David Davis has struggled with PTSD and alcoholism since the death of his wife and returning from fighting.
Northsound reporter Phil McDonald has more.
Mike Burns, Chief Executive at Aberdeen Cyrenians said: "The vast majority of people who are sitting on the streets begging in Aberdeen have multiple complex needs.
"Whether those needs be around their mental health, physical health, food or fuel poverty, late payments of benefits.
"Their way of coping with these needs are often to turn to drugs or alcohol."
