"We must move on" Monica Lennon says the matter of Aberdeen's suspended Councillors is closed
The Scottish Labour Leadership candidate says if she wins she wants to move on from the discussion, it comes after her competition Anas Sarwar said he wanted to work with the 'Aberdeen Nine'
Scottish Labour Leadership Candidate Monica Lennon says "The matter is closed" in regards to Aberdeen's suspended Labour Councillors.
Nine Councillors, including City Council Co-Leader Jenny Laing, were suspended from the party after forming a coalition with the Conservatives.
This was recently extended until the next Council election by Richard Leonard, but his resignation offered a glimmer of hope for the 'Aberdeen Nine'.
Anas Sarwar, Lennon's competition in the race, has said he wants to work with the Councillors, and doesn't consider them Ex-Labour, but current Labour.
But now Lennon has suggested there is no way back for Laing and co if she wins the contest.
She told Northsound:
"As Scottish Labour Leader I will expect all members to follow our rules and act responsibly"
"These disciplinary cases started two Scottish Labour Leaders ago."
"It dragged on for too long, the matter is closed, and we must move on."
