Katherine Ryan to headline Aberdeen International Comedy Festival 2021
The star of Netflix show the Duchess has been unveiled as next year's headline act.
The headliner for the 2021 Aberdeen International Comedy Festival has been unveiled today as none other than comedy and TV superstar Katherine Ryan.
At a time when the world really needs some laughs, the Canadian comic will take to the stage of the Music Hall in Aberdeen on 8 October 2021 as part of her national tour with her brand-new live show Missus.
Having previously denounced partnership, Katherine has since married her first love, accidentally. A lot has changed for everyone and we can look forward to hearing Katherine Ryan’s hilarious new perspectives on life, love, and what it means to be Missus.
All being well, the 2021 Aberdeen International Comedy Festival will bring some much needed comedic relief and return to venues throughout the city centre from 30 September to 10 October.
Securing the creator and star of Netflix smash hit The Duchess (along with two global Netflix comedy specials: In Trouble and Glitter Room) comedian and TV’s Katherine Ryan is a huge coup for festival organisers Aberdeen Inspired, who have been working hard to grow the festival since it launched in 2016.
Shona Byrne, Aberdeen Inspired project manager, said: “In normal circumstances, we would have currently been halfway through the 2020 Aberdeen International Comedy Festival this week. It seems apt to announce next year’s incredible headliner Katherine Ryan now, who we are absolutely delighted to have secured for 2021. This gives us all something to look forward to respecting these challenging times, and there has probably never been more a time when people will be in need of a laugh.
“The festival has become a firm favourite in the north-east in recent years within both the local community and visitors to the city. We are committed to building on this with the safe return of the festival in autumn next year, with an exciting range of top UK and international comedians joining the line-up alongside Katherine Ryan.”
Katherine Ryan is currently dominating the television and live comedy scenes both in the UK and abroad. Katherine has co-hosted six series of Comedy Central’s smash hit show Your Face or Mine with Jimmy Carr. She can currently be seen on Comedy Central as a judge on Roast Battle Series 4 and has judged every other series.
Katherine can also be seen each week as a Team Captain on E4’s 8 Out of 10 Cats Series 22 along with fellow Team Captain Rob Beckett and host Jimmy Carr. She hosted the marquee all-female 8 Out of 10 Cats Does Countdown special (C4) in 2018 and has been a regular contributor on Cats Does Countdown for many series. She also co-hosted Channel Four’s tentpole Alternative Election Special with Krishnan Guru Murthy in December 2019.
Outside of television, Katherine has sold out venues across the UK, US and Canada with her unique shows. She took her last show, GLITTER ROOM, to The Garrick Theatre in London’s West End for a four week run after a sell-out nationwide tour.
