Cove Rangers manager Jim McIntyre has lifted the lid on why striker Rory McAllister was suddenly transfer listed and sold to Montrose this week.

He says it's after McAllister told him of a holiday he booked for September, meaning he'd miss Cove's meeting with Dundee.

The 35-year-old netted 19 times for Cove last season, including 16 in the league.

It earned him a place in the League 1 Team of the Season, next to strike partner and club captain Mitch Megginson.

And he'll get a chance to keep his place in the team after joining the Gable Endies for an undisclosed fee.
