Jason Leitch on why isolated Covid outbreaks are different from community transmission
Professor Leitch on why it's important to look deeper than case numbers, and why NHS Grampian's management of outbreaks in the North East is preventing further spread and a level increase.
This morning Northsound are speaking to National Clinical Director Professor Jason Leitch about the current situation around Covid in the North East.
Yesterday's figures showed 48 cases in the Grampian health board area, a number that has steadily been decreasing since last Thursday.
There were concerns last week Aberdeen City and Aberdeenshire could be moved up a level of restrictions, but the level of the cases in the area that could be attributed to isolated outbreaks likely saved the region.
This is because of the quick reaction from the local healthboard to stop outbreaks within work places spreading to the community.
