Jack McKenzie signs new Dons contract
The youngster will stay with Aberdeen until 2025
Aberdeen FC has secured the long-term future of highly rated Youth Academy Graduate, Jack MacKenzie, on an extended deal that will see him remain at the Club until 2025.
The 20-year-old defender, who has been with the Dons since the age of nine, is a product of the AFC Youth Academy and the SFA Performance School at Hazlehead and quickly progressed through the ranks, gaining an impressive reputation as he went.
The left-back signed his first professional contract in the summer of 2017 alongside Dean Campbell and went on to captain the Development team.
Following a successful loan spell with Forfar Athletic FC during the 2020-2021 season, Jack was recalled to Pittodrie and made his competitive first team debut on the 20th of March. On the 29th of the same month Jack signed a new two-year deal to remain at Pittodrie.
Jack has made 20 first team appearances and scored one senior goal, the winner against Livingston earlier in the season. He returned to the first team squad on Saturday after a spell on the side-lines through injury.
Manager Stephen Glass is delighted with the impact Jack has had in the first team this season but believes there is much to come from him. He said:
“We have been really pleased with Jack’s performance since he made his debut late last season, and he has gone on to feature regularly in the first team.
“He has earned this extension and I look forward to seeing his continued progress here at the Club”
