Kellands Primary School sent children home, as heavy rain hit the North East

Kellands Primary School has been forced to close its doors to pupils, asheavy rain batters the North East.

Aberdeenshire Council issued a closure notice, explaining water had started to enter the kitchen area.

It read: "Due to the heavy rainfall we have water coming into our kitchen area and are unable to prepare and provide school meals.

"As a result of this we have made the difficult decision to close the school with immediate effect.

"This decision has not been taken lightly but the health and safety of our children is paramount.

"If your child is in Unit 1 (P1-P3) you can collect at the main gates at the Nursery car park side of the building.

"If your child is in Unit 2 (P4-P5) you can enter the grounds at the normal drop-off point and staff will escort you round to where you can collect your child.

"If your child is in Unit 3 (P6-P7) can you collect your child from the usual drop-off point.

"Nursery will remain open as normal."
