Nicola Sturgeon to join Val McDermind at Aberdeen's crime writing festival

A new chapter of Aberdeen's crime writing festival begins this weekend with Granite Noir returning for 2023.
It has a particular focus on the Gothic this year, highlighting Aberdeen’s history, atmosphere and strong sense of place and celebrating the very best crime writing.
The Queen of Scottish crime fiction, Val McDermid, is headlining the festival in conversation with First Minister, Nicola Sturgeon.
The pair will take to the Music Hall stage on Friday, 24 February at 8PM.
Ms Sturgeon has been a fan of McDermid's work for a number of years, regularly conversing with the writer on Twitter after first meeting at the Edinburgh International Book Festival in 2015.
Aberdeen Performing Arts Director of Programming and Creative Projects Ben Torrie, said: "We are thrilled to announce that the First Minister will be joining us to chair a conversation with Val McDermid, undoubtedly one of the world’s stars of crime writing.
