Granite Noir festival goes virtual for one year only

This year's 'Granite Noir' festival - Aberdeen's annual celebration of crime writing is going online.

The vast majority of events will be streamed online for free, many with audience participation.

Organisers said there was never any doubt the festival would go ahead in some form or fashion.

Headliners include Stuart MacBride, Ian Rankin, Attica Locke and Peter May.

Peter May will speak about his book 'Lockdown' which was originally turned down by publishers for being too unrealistic.

In an ironic twist, he will now speak about it at an event forced online by a pandemic - very similar to the plot of the novel.
