Three half-time substitutes helped turn the tide for Aberdeen after they were pegged back from 2-0 up in Iceland.

Coming out of half-time Stephen Glass made the bold move to take off Lewis Ferguson, Johnny Hayes and Jay Emmanuel-Thomas - replacing them with Connor McLennan, Dylan McGeouch and Declan Gallagher entering the fray.

Glass told RedTV : "The boys have been brilliant with their workload.

"They know that they've had to wait their turn to get in the team.

"Your turn comes when it's your turn and you need to be ready, and I think they were."

Christian Ramirez and Lewis Ferguson scored earlier on for the Dons, both converting from Calvin Ramsay corners.

But just as it looked like it could be a stroll for the Reds, Breidablik sprung into life.

Gisli Eyjolfsson capitalised on a Ross McCrorie error to score, before Arni Vihjalmsson converted from the penalty spot after a long ball caused havoc, with Andy Considine bringing down an attacker.

Not long after the re-start, McLennan expertly plucked a Joe Lewis pass out of the air, squaring it for the American Ramirez to score again.

The rest of the game had a messy dynamic to it, but the visitors looked the more likely to score. They'll take a 3-2 advantage back to the Granite City next Thursday.

On the game Glass said:

"Unbelievable start, couple goals from set-pieces that Alan (Russell) set-up.

"Not so pleased we got a little bit loose and allowed them back in the game from being 2-0 up.

"But I think what you saw after that was a great response

"That was a good team we were playing against."

Aberdeen hope to have as close to a capacity crowd at Pittodrie next week for the second leg - although only a minimal amount of seats would be available in the Main Stand due to UEFA protocol - but that will be subject to a City Council decision.

Northsound News understand however that The Dons are 'highly likely' to be given the green light' by the local authority, for capacity crowds for the rest of the season.

First though, Stephen Glass and his team will turn their attentions to Livingston in the League this Sunday.

Glass continued:

"Now Sunday comes around pretty quick, there will obviously be a few changes ahead of Sunday, but we think it's another game we can win."
