Teenage girl charged after knife incident at Aberdeen school
Police were called to Hazlehead Academy at around 10.30 on Thursday morning
A 14-year-old girl has been arrested and charged after an incident involving a knife at an Aberdeen secondary school which left a 12-year-old girl requiring hospital treatment.
Police were called to Hazlehead Academy at around 10.30 on Thursday morning. The 12-year-old girl was collected by her parents, and taken to Royal Aberdeen Children's Hospital for treatment.
She has since been released.
Later on Tuesday Police Scotland confirmed an arrest had been made in connection with the incident.
A spokesperson said: "A 14-year-old girl has been arrested and charged in connection with a serious assault in Groats Road, Aberdeen.
"She will be reported to the relevant authorities."
An Aberdeen City Council spokesperson said: “We can confirm that an incident occurred at Hazlehead Academy this morning. As a result, a pupil was injured.
"The pupil was collected by their parents and taken for medical treatment. The incident is now over. Police were alerted and are carrying out inquiries. We cannot comment further at this stage.”
