Frustrated Footdee residents to meet with MP after losing bus service
No service has went through the village since Sunday 3 July
Aberdeen North MP Kirsty Blackman is meeting with Footdee residents this evening as they voice their concerns over losing the only bus service in the village.
Re-routing from operators First Bus has left locals "distressed".
The number 13 service only goes as far as the Beach Boulevard Retail Park, whilst the number 15, which previously went into Footdee, only goes as far as Balnagask.
Ms Blackman will meet with residents this evening to discuss the service that she says is "vital".
"It's about talking about their concerns, talking about why they really need a bus, thinking about how important that is, and then deciding in the next course of action.
"It's also about trying to work out what we can do, how we can put pressure on First Bus to try and ensure that this service, that's vital, is brought back."
Ms Blackman later added that she'd already been in dialogue with those affected by the changes.
"I've had people in touch with me talking about the fact that they've had to miss medical appointments as a result of the bus service being withdrawn.
"If you don't have a car, which an awful lot of residents in Aberdeen don't, then buses are really, really important, particularly if you struggle to walk long distances."
"I'm always happy to have wider conversations about the fact that the bus service is in Aberdeen are not great and they haven't been great for years.
"They're far too expensive and they don't always do sensible routes and then they change it short notice - this is is unsustainable."
