Fraserburgh mum home from Bahrain after month in jail

Hannah James is home after spending Christmas behind bars.

A Fraserburgh mum has returned to the UK after being released from jail in Bahrain.

Hannah James was locked up after being accused by her husband of cheating on her - that's now been withdrawn.

Ms James accused Jassim Alhaddar of domestic violence and of burning her passport, but he denies both allegations.

More than ten thousand of you signed a petition calling for her to be released.

A Just Giving appeal online raised over £2,500 to help pay for her flights home.

A statement released on behalf of the family said: "I can now confirm that Hannah James is home in the uk and reunited with her son.

"As you will be aware this has been a very worrying and terrifying ordeal for Hannah and us as a family.

"We would like to give thanks to the many people that shared the post of our plight to get our daughter home, the very generous individuals that donated, the people that signed the petition and to the people that offered their kind words of support- especially to friends and family In the north east of Scotland .

"Shelley and Philip would like to thank the Alhaddar family that supported Hannah and kept her safe when she was released from prison."
