A worker on BP's Andrew platform on the North sea has tested positive for covid-19, after leaving the rig due to experiencing symptoms of the virus.

The Oil giant identified four close contacts, who were kept in isolation on the platform before being transferred to shore to continue their isolation.

A BP Spokesperson said:

"bp can confirm that an individual on our Andrew platform, who was experiencing Covid-19 symptoms, was safely taken back to shore on Sunday 11 October. The individual subsequently tested positive for Covid-19 and returned home to self-isolate."

"We followed our well-practiced escalation procedures and identified a further four individuals who had been in close contact with the positive case. These people were kept in isolation on the platform before being transferred to shore on Monday 12 October."
