There's been a big rise in the number of people using foodbanks in Aberdeen.

They were used by 1,174 adults and 803 children in the past year.

There was a slight drop in Aberdeenshire - with food poverty down 3%.

A total of 768 adults and 352 children were given food parcels in the past year.

Across Scotland, the number of people being referred has risen by 6% from April to September this year.

Ewan Gurr from the Trussell Trust said: "Despite the fact that we have seen an increase, what is good is that we're seeing a decrease in a number of local authorities.

"Last financial year we saw 6 local authorities experience a decrease, this year we've seen 9."

South Lanarkshire saw the greatest increase, up 70% in the last year.
