Flood alerts for Aberdeen city and Aberdeenshire have been issued by SEPA.

It comes as the remenants of Storm Jonas - which blanketed the east coast of the US in deep snow - is now battering the UK, bringing with it heavy rain and wind.

Heavy rainfall is expected from this morning across the southern part of Aberdeenshire, which will lead to a risk of flooding to low lying land and roads from rivers and surface water during the day.

Peak water levels are likely to occur during the day although will remain high into tomorrow.

However, levels are expected to be much lower than those experienced during the New Year period.

Just over two weeks ago, communities such as Ballater, Aboyne, Port Elphinstone, and Inverurie were left devastated by flooding - forcing the evacuation of over 600 homes.
