The First Minister is set to host a summit in Edinburgh this morning which will consider ways to crack down on youth violence and bullying.

John Swinney has called the meeting after hearing from Fife teenager Kaylynn Donald, who was attacked on a school bus two years ago.

Footage of the incident was widely shared on social media at the time.

The 13-year-old will attend the summit with her mum Vicky.

Vicky has told us they are both calling for schools and police to be given more powers to deal with bullies.

Vicky explained:

"She (Kaylynn) wants more powers given to police and schools so that when there are cases of bullying the schools can't turn round and say 'well we are following the guidelines' and the Police can't say 'well because of their age we can't do anything about it'"

"At least if there are more powers given to police and schools there will be harsher consequences."

She said the attack - which happened when Kaylynn was just 11-years-old - has had a lasting impact on the youngster and that the videos of it followed her about for a long time afterwards.

But Vicky said: "She has turned something that was such a negative in her life and used it in a positive way to make sure it doesn't happen to anyone else."

"We are super proud of her for that and she is proud of herself and very happy that she is at the point where she's going to be going to a summit."

"She finally feels like after the last few years somebody is paying attention and listening to her."
